DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”30069″ img_size=”medium” css=””][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=””] \n\nList of deceased former MEPs who will be commemorated\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUnder the patronage of the European Parliament\, the Former Members Association will hold its seventeenth Annual Memorial Service on Tuesday\, 2 June 2026\, from 17:45 to 18:15\, to honor deceased Members and former Members of the European Parliament. \nThe ceremony will be opened by Klaus Hänsch\, President of the EP Former Members Association and former President of the European Parliament. This will be followed by a tribute from European Parliament Vice-President Katarina Barley. The commemoration will also feature poetry readings by members of the FMA Management Committee and curated musical performances. Josep Borrell\, former President of the European Parliament\, will bring the service to a close. \nThe event takes place in the Hemicycle of the European Parliament in Brussels.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]Interpretation will be available in English\, French\, German\, Italian\, and Spanish. \nThe complete list of deceased former Members of the European Parliament being commemorated is available here.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

The event will be hosted in the elegant Members’ Restaurant of the European Parliament in Brussels. \nThe evening will begin with a cocktail reception featuring a welcome message from Vice President Katarina Barley. Following the reception\, European Commissioner for Defence and Space\, Andrius Kubilius will open the dinner with a keynote speech titled “The way to achieve a genuine European Defence Union.” His speech will lead into an interactive exchange with FMA members. \nTo ensure a seamless experience for all guests\, English and French interpretation will be available throughout the event. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
