The discussion focused on the challenges posed by geographical distance\, language barriers and limited exposure to Taiwan in Europe\, and explored short-term tactical solutions and long-term strategic approaches to overcoming these obstacles. \nThe webinar was an opportunity to hear from speaker Lord Richard Balfe on this important issue. \nThe event was conducted in English.

DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to announce that our recent event in collaboration with the University of Oviedo\, entitled ‘The European Pact on Migration and Asylum: Keys and Consequences’\, took place on Thursday 26 September at 12:45. The keynote speaker\, AAD member Leopoldo López Gil\, led an enriching discussion. \nThe conference was part of the Faculty of Commerce’s complementary activities\, specially designed for students pursuing a degree in commerce\, with a focus on international trade within the European Union. Organised in Spanish\, it marked the Faculty’s inaugural event for the 2024/2025 academic year. \nParticipants were able to explore key aspects of the European Pact on Migration and Asylum\, including the content of the pact\, the challenges faced during negotiations\, the agreement process and the role of the European Parliament. The discussion also examined whether the Pact improves migration management or presents new challenges\, with a particular focus on its implications for Spain. \nWe would like to thank all those who took part and contributed to the success of this important event!

DESCRIPTION:From 18 to 23 August 2024\, the FMA together with the University ORT of Uruguay has organized a three-day EP to Campus programme on campus on the framework of the Euromodel on the work of the European Parliament.  \nThe former MEP and Ambassador Ana Gomes gave a presentation to a group of 70 students as part of a simulation of a discussion in the European Parliament. These students have been selected among 300 candidates from all universities and careers of Uruguay. \nIn her presentation Ana Gomes shared her experience in negotiation in an engaging way for the students. She introduced the functioning of the different European Commissions. She explained the role of members of the European Parliament and political parties with respect to the different nationalities. She spiked vivid interest and questions from the audience were abundant. \nThis is what the EP to Campus programme is about – extending the work of the European Union. In this case\, from the European parliament\, disseminating its principles and role\, which is not always straightforward in on the international scene. \n

Former MEP Mr. Manzella\, renowned for his pivotal role in drafting the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the Union\, brings a wealth of experience to his analysis of the European Parliament’s evolution. \nAs we navigate the complexities of European integration and parliamentary democracy\, this book offers invaluable insights into the transformative journey of the European Parliament’s influential role in shaping both European and national politics. The event reflected also on the outcomes of the recent European elections while looking ahead to the upcoming legislative period. \nFMA President and Former President of the European Parliament Klaus Hänsch delivered a word of welcome followed by opening remarks from Head of EPLO Italy Carlo Corazza. FMA Vice-President Monica Baldi presented the book and introduced Andrea Manzella who provided his insights into the book. A question & answer session with the audience followed with the participation of co-author Nicola Lupo.
