Cenni sulla necessità di una trasformazione” (Finance for society. From domination to service. Hints at the need for transformation) in the Auditorium of the House of European History. \nThe event was opened and concluded by FMA President Klaus Hänsch.  FMA Vice-President Monica Baldi presented the author and his book and after that FMA Board Member Paul Rübig coordinated the Q&A session with the audience in the room and connected online. \n“The political events of the present day are intertwined with significant economic events such as the crisis\, they must be explored in all the aspects inherent to human society” – Vitaliano Gemelli. The political events of the present day are intertwined with significant economic events such as the crisis; they must be explored in all the aspects inherent to human society\, without neglecting the multiple sensitivities that each person brings as positive baggage to enrich society. Ultimately\, any action taken by the institutions must aim at the human growth of each person and the enhancement of their precious originality. The essay dwells on the worldwide problem of sovereign debts and proposes a solution hypothesis with the aim of decoupling them from the financial market\, to prevent states from suffering the effects of economic and financial crises\, as has happened recently. SUMMARY:FMA Study visit 2022 to the Jean Monnet Foundation in Lausanne

First stop of the visit was Geneva\, where Ambassador Anda Filip welcomed the Delegation at the Inter-Parliamentary Union and had an extensive debate on IPU’s accountability mechanism\, criteria for free and fair elections\, multilateralism and climate urgency\, parliamentary solidarity\, women’s participation and relations with civil society. FMA Board Member and former President of IPU (1994-1997) Miguel Angel Martinez Martinez was also part of the Delegation. A follow-up meeting took place with IPU’s Secretary General Martin Chungong on 27 September\, including an exchange on the future co-operation between IPU and the FMA. \n  \nOn Friday 23 September the visit continued at the Jean Monnet Foundation for Europe. There the Delegation was warmly welcomed by President of the Foundation – and former EP and FMA President – Pat Cox\, who also gave an intense and passionate presentation about the figure of Jean Monnet. Constantinos Tsoutsoplides\, Head of the EPLO in Greece\, provided some introductory comments. Ms Karamanou and her book were introduced by Teresa Riera Madurell and moderated by Jean-Pierre Audy\, both FMA Board members. The FMA publication ‘Present Future of Europe’\, a collection of proposals to stimulate debate on the ideas for today’s Europe\, was presented and discussed with EU policy-makers\, in the light of the final report on the outcome of the CoFoE. \nAnthony Teasdale\, Director General of the European Parliamentary Research Service (EPRS)\, opened the Roundtable followed by a presentation of the FMA publication by the then FMA President and former EP President Hans-Gert Pöttering. Monica Baldi\, FMA Vice-President; Dieter Schlenker\, Director of EU Historical Archives in Florence and Professor Steven Van Hecke\, advisor to the FMA Reflection Group on the CoFoE\, provided introductory remarks on the production of the FMA publication “Present Future of Europe”.
