Ils ont rencontré des représentants du Parlement chypriote\, des représentants des Nations unies et d’anciens députés européens pour discuter des priorités de la présidence chypriote du Conseil de l’UE et du paysage politique actuel de cette nation insulaire. \nLe 26 mars\, l’AAD a entamé sa visite officielle par une réunion virtuelle avec l’honorable Harris Georgiades\, président de la commission des affaires étrangères et européennes de la Chambre des représentants. Plus tard dans la journée\, l’AAD a discuté du rôle de l’ONU à Chypre avec Khassim Diagne\, représentant spécial du secrétaire général de l’ONU et chef de la Force des Nations unies chargée du maintien de la paix à Chypre. Cette rencontre a été suivie d’une réunion avec Nicodemos Damianou\, vice-ministre de la Recherche\, de l’Innovation et de la Politique numérique\, qui a partagé son expertise en matière d’intelligence artificielle et de cybersécurité. Pour conclure la journée\, la délégation a rencontré les représentants de la Commission des personnes disparues : Leonidas Pantelides\, Hakkı Müftüzade\, et Pierre Gentile. \nLe 27 mars\, l’AAD a rencontré l’intervenante invitée Antigoni Papadopoulou\, ancienne députée européenne (S&D\, 2009–2014) et membre de l’AAD originaire de Chypre. This is a moment of reflection dedicated to remembering those who have passed away over the past year\, shared with their families\, former colleagues\, and distinguished guests. \n\nThe ceremony was opened by Klaus Hänsch\, President of the EP Former Members Association and former President of the European Parliament. This was followed by a tribute from European Parliament Vice-President\, Katarina Barley. The commemoration also featured poetry readings by members of the FMA Management Committee and curated musical performances. The honour roll call was read by Vice President of the FMA\, Monica Baldi. The service was brought to a close by former President of the European Parliament\, Josep Borrell. \nThe event took place in the Hemicycle of the European Parliament in Brussels. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

The event wase hosted in the elegant Members’ Restaurant of the European Parliament in Brussels. The dinner coincided with the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Association. \nThe evening began with a cocktail reception featuring a welcome message from Vice President Katarina Barley. Following the reception\, European Commissioner for Defence and Space\, Andrius Kubilius opened the dinner with a keynote speech titled: “The way to achieve a genuine European Defence Union.” His speech was followed by an interactive exchange with FMA members. \nTo ensure a seamless experience for all guests\, English and French interpretation was available throughout the event.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
