FMA Study Visit to Italy | 2 April 2025

Europe and Canada: Strategic Security Dialogue

Wednesday 2 April 2025, 10.30 a.m.

Esperienza Europa-David Sassoli, Piazza Venezia 6c, Rome

The European Parliament Office in Italy hosts a meeting between the Association of Former Members of the European Parliament (EP_FMA) and the Delegation of Former Canadian Members of Parliament (CAFP). On the agenda is a discussion on current trade and global governance challenges.

Experience Europe-David Sassoli is hosting the first official meeting in Italy between the delegations of former MEPs, wanted by the Association of Former MEPs to highlight the importance of relations between the two sides of the Atlantic. The Canadian delegation will be in Italy for a study visit to Rome, Florence and Siena from 1st to 13th April.

The event will be attended by Monica Baldi, vice-president of EP_FMA, Leo Dugay, president of CAFP, and Elvira Marasco, president of Women20 Italia. An exchange of views between the members of the two delegations will follow. The proceedings will be opened by the institutional greetings of Ilaria Garampi, head of Esperienza Europa-David Sassoli.

“Our association – says Monica Baldi ahead of the meeting – continues its commitment to strengthen the European and international network of former parliamentarians. In this framework of cooperation and given recent international developments, the meeting with the Canadian delegation is of particular interest”.
