Under the patronage of the European Parliament, the Former Members Association held its seventeenth Annual Memorial Service on Tuesday, 2 June 2026, from 17:45 to 18:15, to honor deceased Members and former Members of the European Parliament. This is a moment of reflection dedicated to remembering those who have passed away over the past year, shared with their families, former colleagues, and distinguished guests.
The ceremony was opened by Klaus Hänsch, President of the EP Former Members Association and former President of the European Parliament. This was followed by a tribute from European Parliament Vice-President, Katarina Barley. The commemoration also featured poetry readings by members of the FMA Management Committee and curated musical performances. The honour roll call was read by Vice President of the FMA, Monica Baldi. The service was brought to a close by former President of the European Parliament, Josep Borrell.
The event took place in the Hemicycle of the European Parliament in Brussels.
