University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign invited Former Member Monica Frassoni on February 24 (12.00-13.50 CST/19.00-20.50 CET) to participate in Mr Jonathan Larson’s course on “The European Parliament and parliamentarians in everyday life”. She talked about Environment and Public Health.
The first half of the conference was open to a select public and was a discussion about cases of past projects, legislation, initiatives, or crises in which the MEP found it particularly rewarding, vexing, or enlightening to have participated.
The second half has been driven by student questions attempting to draw out aspects of the “everyday life” of an MEP that are the heart of this course, informed lightly by how anthropologists and sociologists have attempted to understand the work of policy-makers such as central bankers or even legislators. The majority of students were students of political science or law.
