Annual General Assembly

Once per year, members gather to celebrate an intense year of work, discuss the current activities of the Association and submit their proposals. This is indeed the perfect occasion to foster relations with former colleagues.

The 25th Annual General Assembly will take place on 3 June 2026 in the European Parliament, Brussels and via the interactio system.

The following program is organised for  our members and special guests. We invite them to save the date for our events in June.

2 June 2026:

• 16:00 – 17:00 – Opening of the FMA 25th Anniversary Exhibition by President Klaus Hänsch.
• 17:45 – 18:15 – Annual Memorial Service

  • The ceremony will open with Klaus Hänsch, President of the EP Former Members Association and former European Parliament President. A tribute will follow from European Parliament Vice-President Katarina Barley. The honour roll will be read by Monica Baldi, Vice-President of the FMA, and the service will conclude with former European Parliament President Josep Borrell. Poetry readings and musical performances will also be included.

• 18:30 – 19:30 – Cocktail Reception
  • The evening will start with a cocktail reception and a welcome by Vice-President Katarina Barley.

• 19:30 – 21:30 – Dinner Debate
  •  European Commissioner for Defence and Space Andrius Kubilius will then open the dinner with a keynote on “The way to achieve a genuine European Defence Union.”

3 June 2026

• 9:00 – 13:00 – The Annual General Assembly will begin with a special session dedicated to the 25th FMA Anniversary.
• 13:00 – 14:00 – Annual Lunch (offered by the FMA)
